Thanks for posting.......
It's exciting to be a Clemson fan right now. Your football team is ranked #1 and playing in the college playoffs. Men's soccer made the College Cup finals. Your women's soccer program is challenging the upper third of the tough ACC. Baseball has always been good along with some other sports.
Clemson's commitment to athletics is also a result of playing in a P-5 conference. Being in SEC country puts additional pressure to succeed, especially in football and baseball. I'd love to see Tech invest more in their soccer, baseball, softball, and track & field facilities. Tech's AD, Whit Babcock, is presently focusing on the 2 sports that mean the most (football and men's basketball) and that bring in the revenue to run all the other programs. Our new indoor football facility is top notch, but many of our Olympic sports facilities are lagging behind many ACC and P-5 schools.
I don't expect Tech to build a 9 hole golf course for it's athletes but who knows what the future holds for P-5 athletics? I honestly don't like the direction college athletics is heading with the football-basketball arms race. Right now, Tech has one of the best indoor practice facilities, but in 5 to 10 years it could be just average.
Thanks again for posting and we would all appreciate a Clemson Tiger's point of view concerning conference realignment.
